We seek to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics to join our dynamic team of academics and help shape the future of our mathematics provision. We are especially keen to hear from applicants with expertise in applied mathematics, mathematical modelling, optimisation, discrete mathematics, computational mathematics or mathematics for real-world applications. Experience of curriculum development, interdisciplinary teaching, research, or working with industry, professional bodies or public-sector partners would be particularly welcome.
As a Senior Lecturer, you will bring your passion and experience to deliver high-quality teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will play a key role in strengthening our mathematics curriculum, supporting students across mathematics-intensive programmes, and ensuring that our provision remains academically rigorous, professionally relevant and aligned with the needs of employers and future graduates. You will also contribute to the broader academic work of the School of Computer and Engineering Sciences, including curriculum development, research, knowledge exchange, outreach and external engagement.
The ideal candidate will hold a relevant higher degree in Mathematics or a closely related STEM discipline. You will have experience of teaching in higher education and be able to develop engaging, inclusive and innovative learning experiences. If you do not already hold one, we will support you in working towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education or Fellowship of Advance HE.
We are looking for a collaborative, forward-thinking individual who is passionate about supporting students and confident in using modern teaching methods, including blended and online learning. You will be committed to high-quality teaching, student success, and the development of mathematics as a core discipline that supports innovation across science, engineering, computing and wider society. If you are eager to make a difference in the lives of our students and be part of an innovative, growing team at the University of Chester, we would love to hear from you.
We strongly encourage applications from women and individuals from diverse backgrounds as we strive to promote inclusivity in our department. All appointments will be made based on merit.
