About us
UCL Careers provides a ‘core’ service for all students as well as ‘local’ careers support for faculties and departments. Such local support is managed by three careers teams that work with faculty groupings.
About the role
We currently have an opportunity for a Careers Consultant to join an existing team of Careers Consultants and Work-Related Learning staff developing and delivering careers education programmes to students across two of our key faculties – the School of Laws, Arts and Humanities and the Institute of Education.
In this job you’ll provide careers-focussed activities including delivering small- and large‑group teaching (online and in person) to develop careers related knowledge and employability skills, faculty specific careers appointments and some departmental / faculty level events provision. Strategic and administrative duties include planning an annual programme with academic and support staff, contributing to educational meetings, marketing careers provision, and managing an online platform (Moodle).
In addition, the Careers Consultant will deliver on some of our central service provision, including 1:1 careers guidance appointments open to all UCL students and recent alumni, and work collaboratively on a range of central projects.

About you
To do this job you’l need sufficient work experience in one of the core areas of Laws, Arts and Humanities, or Education, in order to provide robust guidance on career development and career management issues to our students.
You should be a confident presenter and facilitator and enjoy running group sessions as well as working with students 1:1. You should enjoy, and have experience of, working with a range of stakeholders so that you are well equipped to work closely with students, academic staff, support staff and employers. You should have a proven ability to plan, lead on and manage areas of work to a high standard and agreed objectives/outcomes.
Previous work experience within Higher would be advantageous, as would knowledge of the issues facing graduates entering the workplace.
