Research Technician in Modelling Bladder Neuromuscular Job at Manchester Full Time NEW

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Technician in Modelling Bladder Neuromuscular Circuitry. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support cutting‑edge biomedical research within the Division of Cell Matrix Biology and Regenerative Medicine, School of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health.

You will work in a dynamic and inclusive laboratory environment, contributing to the development of a human cell‑based model of the neuromuscular circuitry that controls bladder function, which will be used to test advanced therapeutic approaches. The role involves providing technical support with minimal supervision, supporting experimental activity, equipment use and safe laboratory practice.

This is a Grade 4 post, based at the University of Manchester.

You will be responsible for:

• Supporting and carrying out standard experimental protocols and assisting staff and students with laboratory work
• Operating, maintaining and supporting the use of research‑associated laboratory equipment
• Contributing to the smooth running of laboratories, including housekeeping, stock monitoring and procurement
• Recording, collating and storing experimental data accurately using paper and electronic systems
• Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, data protection and relevant legislation, including risk assessments

About You

Essential Criteria :

• A qualification at QCF Level 6 in a relevant biological science discipline, or GCSE‑level qualifications with substantial relevant laboratory experience
• Experience or knowledge of neuromuscular co‑culture systems using human smooth muscle and neuronal cell lines
• Experience or knowledge of transcriptomic or proteomic techniques and analysis tools
• Experience or knowledge of working with viral vectors for gene therapy applications
• Excellent organisational, communication and record‑keeping skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable Criteria :

• Practical experience in techniques such as cell culture, western blotting, histology, immunohistochemistry, microscopy or proteomics
• Experience using laboratory IT systems such as LIMS or databases
• Experience working in a Higher Education or research laboratory environment
